Customer:
The customer is one of the largest
electronic cleaning equipment
manufacturers in the world with
offices in over 40 countries.
The Challenge:
An enterprise portal gives each corporate user a personalized and
integrated view of corporate applications and information. For this the
portal collects, categorizes and integrates data for its applications. Due to
data silos and non-integrated systems, the client was facing problems with
data integration and communication with its dealers, employees and
subsidiaries world-wide. The differences in data reporting hampered the
analysis of requirements. This impacted distribution efficiencies and
affected customer service.
iGATE's Solution:
iGATE Global undertook a business requirement study and based on this,
decided to tackle the issue of differences in data reporting with a "topdown"
approach. This would ensure uniformity in the applications and the
data, and standardize usage across all locations.
The next step was to architect a secure and high availability system. This
was built on the IBM Websphere portal server suite of products. Through this
enterprise portal, users could access a wealth of information like product
portfolio, notice boards, FAQs, common discussion forums and news.
Additional features included mail integration and seamless extended search
across disparate information stores and single sign-on. In order to ensure
completeness of the data, iGATE Global also recommended that some of the
legacy systems be web-enabled, and migrated them to integrate with the
new portal.
Keeping in mind the client's global business requirements, the portal offered
multilingual support through a translation workflow, which enables content
published in one language to be available in other languages with users
initiating a translation request.
The engagement was executed in the global services model with teams
working in tandem across Germany and India. This ensured access to the
requisite skills and optimized total cost of ownership for the client.
Delivery Architecture:
The client now had a unified view of enterprise data, which formed an
important basis for ensuring synchronization. This led to benefits in
supply chain optimization and improved levels of customer service.
