Managers preserve; Leaders create. Managers preserve the past; Leaders create the future. Leadership is all about bringing the future to the present.
The iGATE Center for Organization Development and Leadership was established in June 2007. The mandate for the iGATE Center for Organization Development and Leadership is- Creation of Human Resource Development Culture and Climate, Identification, Development, and Renewal  of iGATE Leadership Competency Framework, Development of multilayered Leadership by deploying Leadership Competency  Framework, Leveraging Leadership for achievement of iGATE Vision, Mission, Objectives and Values, Identifying, Defining, and Nurturing Behavioral Competencies, Organizational Diagnostics and Surveys and Change Management.
The five key beliefs of iCODL are “SOARS” :
S: Strength: iCODL operates from a strengths paradigm, and encourages all its participants to prefer operating from a paradigm of enhancing strengths rather than from a merely weakness correction paradigm.
O: Originality: iCODL in the delivery of its development initiatives, shall be highly creative, and innovative to enhance the impact.
A: Academically Rigorous: iCODL programs to be based on and to draw heavily from past research and to enhance the empirical demonstrability of the concepts.
R: Relevant: While promoting academic rigor and research in the development initiatives, iCODL will always be guided, in all its efforts by the yard stick of “relevance for the Organization and its people.”

S: Serenity: iCODL will extend all its services to the customers in a serene environment conducive to a culture of introspection, openness, and learning.

The development initiatives of iCODL are always guided by these five key beliefs which facilitate the process of adherence to the iGATE values.
At iCODL, leadership development is an on-going process that is based on a robust competency framework derived from empirical research, and consisting of a set of differentiating competencies. One such differentiating competency is “HAP-PSYCAP.” This competency is about well-being and psychological capital.  Research has shown that well-being and psychological capital have tremendous positive impact on an individual’s life and performance in various domains. At iCODL, thus, the emphasis is on research/ empirical evidence based holistic development.
The flagship offering of iCODL is “Leaders to Leaders” [L2L]: the five-day residential program that caters to the development needs of the senior members of the organization globally. In any L2L you may easily come across people from four different continents, discussing the nuances of leadership with the CXO level executives of the company. Here the guiding philosophy is, “Nobody knows iGATE better than us.” Thus the CEO and other members of the Governing Council wear their coaching caps and spend a whopping 100 days cumulatively in a year on this program.
The leadership development initiative of iCODL goes beyond the L2L program. It organizes “Leadership Coaches Workshop” and in turn the members of the Leadership Council become coaches for the project managers in a structured four-day leadership development program for them.
Indeed at iCODL leadership development is an article of faith.
iCODL also runs various behavioral competency development programs in tune with the competency framework and thus ensures that every iGATOR is impacted/ touched by this competency development movement.
Organizational diagnostics and research is another area that iCODL handles with equal aplomb by conducting various surveys, and presenting its research findings at respected forums.
iCODL continuously works towards converting the managers of today into leaders of tomorrow.
